Location: PrestonSalary: &pound;41,600 per annumHours: Monday &ndash; Friday, 7:00 am &ndash; 4:00 pm / 8:00 am - 5:00 pmA reputable general haulage company in Preston is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join their team. This role involves hands-on maintenance of the fleet of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise necessary to maintain a small fleet of HGVs and ensure their reliability and safety.Essential Skills:<ul>
<li>Level 3 qualification for vehicle sign-off is required.</li><li>Proven experience in HGV maintenance.</li><li>Ability to work independently without managerial oversight.</li><li>Class 1 driving license is desirable, but not mandatory.</li><li>Strong knowledge of vehicle systems is essential, with HGV experience being a top priority.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li></ul>
Key Responsibilities:<ul>
<li>Manage and maintain a fleet of HGVs.</li><li>Conduct regular services, MOT preparation, and six-weekly vehicle inspections.</li><li>Perform ad-hoc repairs and routine maintenance.</li><li>Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with health and safety standards.</li><li>Diagnose mechanical issues and perform inspections on rigid HGVs.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of all services and repairs.</li><li>Sign off work and documentation (Level 3 qualification required).</li><li>Implement preventative maintenance routines.</li><li>Safely use all tools and equipment.</li><li>Accurately interpret outputs from vehicle diagnostic equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines.</li><li>Follow standard operating procedures and ensure documentation is fully completed.</li><li>Diagnose and rectify any faults that arise.</li><li>Identify and order parts as necessary.</li></ul>
