A fast-paced and growing discount retailer is seeking a dynamic and experienced Store Manager to take the lead at one of its high-footfall locations in Merryhill Shopping Centre, Dudley. This is a 6-month fixed term contract, ideal for a driven professional who thrives in a results-focused environment and is ready to make an immediate impact.

The Store Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, driving performance, managing budgets, and leading a team to deliver excellent customer service. This role is central to ensuring operational standards are met and exceeded, while creating a positive and productive working environment for all team members.

The Candidate

  • Experience in a store management role within a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Background in discount or value retail
  • Familiarity with retail systems, stock management, and scheduling tools
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail operations including stock control, customer service, and compliance
  • Commercially savvy with the ability to analyse data and drive performance
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Store Operations: Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company procedures.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and develop store staff, fostering a culture of performance and customer focus.
  • Performance Management: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), taking corrective actions where necessary.
  • Budget Control: Manage store-level budgets, including payroll and operational expenses.
  • Customer Experience: Maintain high standards of store presentation, stock availability, and service delivery.
  • Stock Management: Oversee inventory levels, deliveries, and merchandising to maximise sales and availability.
  • Compliance: Ensure the store complies with all health and safety regulations.
  • Reporting: Provide regular performance updates and insight to senior management.
  • Strategic Input: Contribute to broader business goals through alignment with regional and head office teams
