Our client, a well-established fastener manufacturer based in Telford, is looking to appoint an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer to join their team.

The role is primarily focused on CNC turning, although experience with CNC milling would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme, set and operate CNC lathes using Fanuc controls.
  • Programme directly at the machine, making adjustments and optimising programmes where required.
  • Take full responsibility for jobs from enquiry through to complete machine set up and production.
  • Set tooling, offsets and workholding and ensure machines are correctly prepared for production.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, job specifications and technical documentation.
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspections to ensure components meet required specifications.
  • Make programme and tooling adjustments to optimise quality, efficiency and cycle times.
  • Work with a range of CNC machinery, including Hitachi and Miyano lathes.
  • Support wider machining activities where required, including CNC milling.
  • Share technical knowledge and provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior machinists.
  • Work closely with colleagues to resolve machining issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, Health & Safety and housekeeping.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Programmer / Setter / Programmer-Operator.
  • CNC Lathe programming experience is essential.
  • Strong experience with Fanuc controls.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tooling, offsets and machining processes.
  • CNC milling experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Hitachi or Miyano CNC lathes would be advantageous.
  • Wider machining experience such as thread rolling, grinding or forging would be beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality components.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of your work.
  • Someone who is approachable and willing to help and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Comfortable supporting and training apprentices and junior members of the team.
  • Professional, adaptable and open to changes in processes and working practices.
  • Strong team player with a willingness to contribute ideas and improve the way the business operates.

Package Details

  • Salary negotiable depending on experience
  • Monday to Thursday 0730-1700 / Friday 0730-1130
