Engineering Service Coordinator Heavy plant & plant hire sector Wembley, London £35,000 - £40,000 (flexible depending on experience) Monday - Friday, Days An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Service Coordinator to join a large and established UK plant and machinery operation based in Wembley. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating mobile engineering activity across a substantial national plant fleet, ensuring breakdowns, servicing, repairs and maintenance requirements are managed efficiently and accurately. The position will primarily support the Wembley operation while also providing coordination support across other UK locations when required. This is a fast-paced operational role suited to someone with strong organisation, engineering knowledge and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. The Candidate; - Previous experience as a Service Controller, Service Coordinator, Engineering Coordinator or similar. - Experience coordinating engineers, technicians or mobile service teams. - Good understanding of maintenance, repairs and breakdown management. - Strong organisational and planning skills. - The ability to manage multiple jobs and competing priorities. - Excellent communication skills. - Strong attention to detail. - Experience maintaining accurate engineering or maintenance records. - Confidence using scheduling, service management and Microsoft Office systems. - The ability to communicate effectively with engineers, depot teams and management. - A proactive approach to problem solving. - Experience within plant machinery or heavy equipment would be advantageous. - Flexibility to support the operation outside of standard hours when required. Duties and Responsibilities; - Coordinating and managing mobile engineering activity. - Allocating engineers to breakdowns, repairs and scheduled maintenance. - Managing workloads based on urgency, location and engineer availability. - Supporting a national team of approximately 30 mobile engineers. - Coordinating approximately seven engineers based around the Wembley operation. - Providing support to engineering teams at other UK locations when required. - Receiving and processing breakdown and repair requests. - Liaising with engineers, depot teams and operational departments regarding machinery status. - Monitoring jobs from initial request through to completion. - Ensuring servicing and repairs are completed within required timescales. - Maintaining accurate service and maintenance records. - Recording engineer time, parts usage and work completed. - Managing photographs and records relating to machinery damage. - Ensuring damage reports, repair information and any machinery changes are documented correctly. - Updating internal systems with repair, maintenance and asset information. - Coordinating parts requirements for planned and reactive repairs. - Providing regular updates regarding breakdowns, repairs and outstanding work. - Helping minimise equipment downtime through effective planning and communication. - Supporting the wider engineering and service management team with operational reporting. Engineering Operations Manager Heavy plant & plant hire sector Wembley, London £65,000 - £70,000 (flexible depending on experience) Monday - Friday, Days An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Operations Manager to join a large and established UK plant and machinery operation based in Wembley. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the delivery of engineering, servicing and maintenance activity across the southern region, ensuring machinery remains safe, reliable, compliant and operational. The wider business operates a substantial national fleet of approximately 8,000 plant assets, supported by a network of depots, workshops and engineering teams across the UK. This is a senior operational leadership position rather than a hands-on engineering role. The Engineering Operations Manager will oversee regional engineering activity, coordinate workshop and mobile engineers, manage planned and reactive maintenance, support breakdown response and ensure engineering resources are deployed effectively across the region. The Candidate; - Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Service Manager, Maintenance Manager or similar. - Plant machinery, construction equipment, heavy engineering or a closely related environment experience is highly desirable - Strong technical knowledge of plant machinery or heavy equipment. - Previous experience as an engineer or technician would be highly advantageous. - Experience managing engineering teams, workshops or field service operations. - Good knowledge of preventative and scheduled maintenance. - Experience coordinating engineering resources across multiple sites or locations. - Strong understanding of breakdown management and technical diagnostics. - Excellent planning and organisational skills. - Experience managing parts, maintenance costs and engineering expenditure. - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. - The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in a fast-paced operational environment. - A proactive and commercially aware approach to engineering operations. - Flexibility to support the operation outside of standard hours when required. Duties and Responsibilities; - Leading the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operation across the region. - Managing and developing a team of approximately seven direct reports. - Coordinating workshop and mobile engineering resources across multiple depot locations. - Managing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance programmes. - Ensuring machinery returning from hire is inspected, serviced and maintained effectively. - Allocating engineers to planned servicing, repairs and breakdown activity. - Coordinating reactive breakdown response and minimising machinery downtime. - Monitoring machine reliability and identifying recurring faults or maintenance issues. - Supporting technical diagnostics and fault-finding where required. - Ensuring all maintenance and repairs are completed to the required manufacturer and safety standards. - Managing warranty repairs and liaising with manufacturers, suppliers and internal teams. - Overseeing parts usage, purchasing and engineering-related expenditure. - Maintaining accurate service, repair and maintenance records. - Monitoring engineering performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and fleet availability. - Working closely with depot, operations and transport teams to ensure machinery is available when required. - Supporting the continued development of engineering processes and maintenance standards. - Providing leadership and support during operational emergencies as part of an on-call structure If you have Plant & Engineering Management experience and would like to be considered for this opportunity, please apply via the link.
