About the Opportunity

I am currently working with a well established machinery manufacturer that designs and manufactures high quality, bespoke machinery for customers across a range of industries.

Following the successful launch of a new range of equipment, the business is experiencing sustained growth, continued investment and a full order book. This is an exciting opportunity for a CNC Turner to join a stable and expanding engineering business.

 

About the Business

This is a highly respected engineering and manufacturing company with a reputation for delivering innovative, bespoke machinery solutions. The business continues to invest heavily in its people, machinery and manufacturing capabilities, creating a modern and professional working environment. They are looking to strengthen their machining team with the addition of an experienced CNC Turner.

 

Responsibilities of the CNC Turner

  • Set, operate and programme CNC turning machines to manufacture precision engineered components
  • Create, edit and modify CNC programmes to meet engineering specifications
  • Work from engineering drawings, job specifications and works orders
  • Manufacture components to tight tolerances and quality standards
  • Carry out inspections using measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification
  • Perform deburring, finishing and quality checks on completed components
  • Manufacture jigs and fixtures to support machining operations
  • Ensure machinery is maintained in line with maintenance schedules and operating procedures
  • Monitor machine performance and respond to machine alarms when required
  • Maintain accurate production and maintenance records
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, organised and safe at all times

 

Requirements of the CNC Turner

  • At least 2 year’s experience as a CNC Turner, CNC Programmer, CNC Setter/Operator or CNC Machinist
  • Ability to programme, set and operate CNC lathes
  • Experience editing CNC programmes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances
  • Good understanding of quality inspection processes and measuring equipment

The Machine Shop Operative will support the day to day running of the machine shop, working closely with CNC machinists and other experienced members of the production team. This position is ideal for someone at the beginning of their engineering career who has completed an apprenticeship or college course and gained around 1 year of experience within a machine shop, manufacturing or hands on assembly environment. The Machine Shop Operative will assist with CNC machining activities, pipe bending, tapping valves, preparing materials and completing basic component modifications. Full training and development will be provided, with the opportunity to progress into CNC operating and skilled machining.

Machine Shop Manager

The successful Machine Shop Manager must have a proven track record of building, setting up or significantly developing a machine shop operation. The Machine Shop Manager will take responsibility for developing the department, introducing effective CNC processes and supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery at the recently acquired site. They need a Machine Shop Manager with a hands on machine shop background who understands CNC machining, someone who is comfortable working on the shop floor and willing to get involved. The Machine Shop Manager will initially manage a machine shop team of 6, with responsibility for people, machinery, materials, quality and production performance. As the site develops, the department is expected to grow and eventually include an onsite maintenance team.
