About the Business

A well-established industrial operation is currently investing heavily across engineering, infrastructure and operational improvements and they are looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to support the continued growth of the site.

This is a varied and hands on opportunity within a fast-paced industrial environment, the Engineering Manager will play a key role across engineering, facilities, maintenance and operational support.

They are looking for an Engineering Manager who can lead from the front, drive standards and take ownership of engineering operations across the site.

 

The Role of the Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will oversee engineering and facilities operations across the site, managing both internal teams and subcontractors to ensure maintenance, compliance and operational performance standards are maintained.

They are looking for someone hands on who enjoys being out on site, supporting the team, driving improvements and getting involved in day-to-day engineering activities.

The successful Engineering Manager can come from either a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.

 

Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager

  • Manage and lead a multi skilled maintenance and facilities team
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site
  • Support engineering projects, site improvements and infrastructure upgrades
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and operational performance
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies and engineering standards
  • Support budget control and engineering spend management
  • Maintain high engineering, housekeeping and safety standards across the operation
  • Provide technical support across engineering and operational activities
  • Work closely with operational teams and senior management across the site
  • Support facilities management responsibilities across offices and operational areas
  • Lead from the front and promote a positive engineering and safety culture
  • Be involved in site-based engineering activities when required

 

Requirements of the Engineering Manager

  • Time served Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background
  • Over 5 years’ hands on engineering experience
  • Previous supervisory, team leader or management experience within industrial environments
  • Experience within ports, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, heavy industry or similar environments
  • Good understanding of engineering maintenance and facilities management
  • Experience managing contractors and third party providers
  • A proactive and hands on approach
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Full training and development will be provided, with the opportunity to progress into CNC operating and skilled machining.

Machine Shop Manager

The successful Machine Shop Manager must have a proven track record of building, setting up or significantly developing a machine shop operation. The Machine Shop Manager will take responsibility for developing the department, introducing effective CNC processes and supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery at the recently acquired site. They need a Machine Shop Manager with a hands on machine shop background who understands CNC machining, someone who is comfortable working on the shop floor and willing to get involved. The Machine Shop Manager will initially manage a machine shop team of 6, with responsibility for people, machinery, materials, quality and production performance. As the site develops, the department is expected to grow and eventually include an onsite maintenance team.
