HGV Class 1 Drivers - Royal Mail Contract

Skelmersdale

Week commencing 9th November 2026

Temp Opportunity

£200 Days | £210 Nights | £215 Saturday | £220 Sunday

24-Hour Operation | Multiple Drivers Required

The Job

Aspion are currently recruiting for HGV Class 1 Drivers to work on a Royal Mail contract with Kamac, starting week commencing 9th November.

This is a 24-hour operation with a number of regular and flexible shift opportunities available across the North West.

The main role will involve traction and shunting work, moving trailers and cages around Royal Mail sites. This is not traditional handballing, with drivers primarily responsible for moving vehicles and cages rather than loading and unloading by hand.

Drivers will also be required to use the relevant apps for compliance checks and work-related processes.

What We Need

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Previous Class 1 experience.
  • Comfortable with traction and shunting work.
  • Able to work across different shift patterns.
  • Reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • Comfortable using apps for compliance checks and work-related requirements.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Completing traction and shunting work for the Royal Mail contract.
  • Moving trailers and cages around designated sites.
  • Carrying out required vehicle and compliance checks through the relevant apps.
  • Following site procedures and transport regulations.
  • Completing vehicle and safety checks.
  • Working as part of a 24-hour operation.
  • Maintaining a professional approach when working on Royal Mail sites.

Pay & Shifts

  • £200 – Day shifts
  • £210 – Night shifts
  • £215 – Saturday
  • £220 – Sunday

The operation runs 24 hours a day, so a range of start times will be available.

Drivers who are available for less conventional start times, such as 2:00am starts, may have the opportunity to secure a regular recurring shift pattern.

Spare Driver Shifts

There are also opportunities for spare driver shifts.

These will be specifically booked and paid as 4 or 5-hour spare shifts, with a payment of £100.

Where a driver is booked for a standard 12-hour shift, they will be paid for the full 12 hours even if they are not required to work for the entire shift, subject to the agreed booking arrangement.

Shifts can sometimes flex depending on operational requirements, so flexibility is important.

Important Information

The majority of the work will be on the Royal Mail contract, however, drivers must be aware that there is also a possibility of being required to complete general haulage work when operationally necessary.

This is an important part of the role and will be explained clearly during the recruitment process.

By accepting the position, drivers must be comfortable with the possibility of being allocated general haulage work as well as the Royal Mail contract.
