Transport Coordinator

Skelmersdale

£26,000 – £30,000 pro rata (depending on experience)

Monday – Friday, 10 pm – 6 am OR Tuesday – Friday, 6 pm – 6 am

Fixed Term Contract (until Christmas week)

 

We’re looking for an experienced Transport Coordinator to join our team on a temporary basis through the busy peak period up to Christmas week. You’ll play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our transport operation — coordinating collections, deliveries, and driver schedules to ensure everything runs safely, efficiently, and on time.

Working closely with the Front Line Manager and wider logistics team, you’ll use transport systems to track vehicle movements, communicate with drivers, and provide excellent service to internal and external customers.

The Candidate;

  • Previous experience in a Transport Coordinator or Transport Office role
  • Confident communicator, able to manage driver and customer relationships
  • Working knowledge of Transport Management Systems (TMS)
  • Good understanding of UK geography and transport regulations
  • Experience in general haulage or pallet network operations (desirable)
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Calm and adaptable under pressure – especially during busy seasonal peaks
  • A proactive team player with a problem-solving mindset

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Coordinate and monitor the movement of goods in line with transport plans
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, depots, and customers to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Use Transport Management Systems (TMS) to track routes, loads, and schedules
  • Support with driver debriefs and ensure all transport documentation is accurate and up to date
  • Respond quickly to operational issues and implement practical solutions
  • Maintain high standards of compliance with all transport and safety regulations
  • Build positive relationships across the transport and customer service teams
  • Assist with route planning and vehicle allocation where needed
  • Contribute to a safe and efficient working environment during peak operations
