Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 + benetis (dependent on experience)

 

About the company

My client is a well established machinery manufacturer based in Leeds. They are looking to recruit an Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver to support their busy warehouse and stores department.

This is a varied, hands on position involving warehouse operations, FLT driving, stock control, goods in/goods out and the movement of machinery parts and equipment.

 

The role of Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver

As the Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the warehouse and stores areas remain organised, safe and efficient.

The Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver will handle incoming and outgoing deliveries, maintain accurate stock records and support the movement of parts, materials and equipment across the site.

 

Key responsibilities of Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver

• Operating an FLT safely and efficiently
• Receiving, checking and processing incoming deliveries
• Preparing and managing outgoing goods
• Booking parts and materials in and out of the system
• Carrying out stock checks and maintaining accurate records
• Organising and maintaining the warehouse and stores areas
• Moving machinery parts, materials and equipment safely
• Using lifting equipment, including jigs, hoists and rigs
• Updating stock and delivery information using SAP or a similar ERP system
• Completing relevant paperwork and documentation accurately
• Supporting the day-to-day running of the stores department
• Working safely around machinery and manufacturing equipment
• Assisting the wider team when required

 

Requirements of Warehouse Operative / FLT Driver

• Previous experience working as a Warehouse Operative, FLT Driver, Stores Operative or in a similar position
• A few years’ experience operating an FLT
• Experience working within a warehouse, stores, parts or manufacturing environment
• Experience handling goods in and goods out
• Knowledge of stock control and inventory processes
• Experience booking parts or materials in and out of a system
• Experience using lifting equipment, jigs, hoists or rigs
• Ideally, experience using SAP or a similar ERP system
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to complete paperwork and maintain accurate records
• A hardworking, reliable and hands on approach
• The flexibility to support different areas of the warehouse and stores operation
• The ability to work safely and think on your feet

Machine Shop Manager

The successful Machine Shop Manager must have a proven track record of building, setting up or significantly developing a machine shop operation. The Machine Shop Manager will take responsibility for developing the department, introducing effective CNC processes and supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery at the recently acquired site. They need a Machine Shop Manager with a hands on machine shop background who understands CNC machining, someone who is comfortable working on the shop floor and willing to get involved. The Machine Shop Manager will initially manage a machine shop team of 6, with responsibility for people, machinery, materials, quality and production performance. As the site develops, the department is expected to grow and eventually include an onsite maintenance team.
