Key Responsibilities: - Inspect and assess the quality of incoming merchant deliveries (up to 25 tonnes worth of material). - Identify and remove non-conforming materials such as wood, concrete, tyres, and dirt. - Visually inspect loads - working with crane operators to review and assess loads. - Oversee quality of materials loaded onto vessels, liaising with customer inspectors and the commercial team. - Monitor and report any battery-containing items to prevent fire risks. - Report all non-conformances via the internal WhatsApp group and maintain accurate visual records (photos). - Collaborate closely with the yard team to improve the quality of ferrous scrap. Requirements: - Strong attention to detail with a proactive, hands-on approach. - Experience working in metal recycling. - Confident in identifying contamination and quality issues. - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with operations teams. - Flexible to work night shifts on a rotational basis (1 in every 4-5 weeks). - Excellent communication skills and confidence to challenge quality issues when required.
