The Role of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer:

They are looking to strengthen their design team with a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Here’s how:

• Lead the mechanical design function, guiding and supporting the Design Engineering team.
• Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components for use in complex machinery.
• Respond to technical requests from customers, including upgrades and modifications to existing machinery.
• Deliver design adjustments and redesigns to enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Produce accurate and detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Support the transition of designs into production-ready parts, ensuring manufacturability.
• Provide occasional onsite support, including service work, site surveys, and customer visits (rare and always with full risk assessments in place).
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and robust engineering solutions.

About the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Qualifications: Mechanical Engineering qualifications (HNC/HND or higher)
• Experience:
  • Over 5 year’s mechanical design experience, ideally within machinery, capital equipment, or a related engineering sector.
  • Over 3 year’s supervisory experience, leading and developing a design team.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proven track record in designing mechanical parts, systems, and assemblies.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and/or other 3D CAD packages.
  • Skilled in producing designs and documentation suitable for manufacturing.
• Core Competencies:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Customer-facing experience, with confidence in liaising directly with clients and suppliers.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels.
