Transport Planner
Ellesmere Port, Wirral
£28,000 - £30,000 (flexible depending on experience)
Monday – Friday, Days
We are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a well-established, market-leading logistics business specialising within the import of bulk freight.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised transport professional to play a key role in planning and managing UK-wide bulk haulage movements, ensuring efficient operations and exceptional customer service.

The Candidate;
- Previous experience in a Transport Planner, Transport Controller or similar transport roles.
- Experience within a bulk haulage, tanker, tipper, or general haulage environment is highly desirable
- A strong background working in a fast-paced transport office.
- Good knowledge of UK Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Regulations.
- Strong understanding of transport compliance and operational planning.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work.
- Sound decision-making skills.
- Good geographical knowledge of the North West and wider UK road network.
Duties and Responsibilities;
- Plan and schedule bulk product movements across the UK.
- Monitor and manage driver performance and daily activities.
- Conduct driver briefings and debriefings where required.
- Collate Proofs of Delivery (PODs) and prepare invoicing summaries.
- Ensure all transport jobs are accurately entered into the transport management system.
- Review routes and optimise vehicle utilisation to maximise operational efficiency.
- Keep customers informed of any service failures, delays, or operational issues.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractor activity on a daily basis.
- Act as the key communication link between customers and drivers.
- Ensure compliance with Driver Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.
- Investigate service failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver consistently high levels of customer service.
