Job Overview

This is a hands-on Branch Manager role responsible for launching and leading a new trade counter / depot operation. Reporting into senior leadership, the position combines sales management, operational control, and team leadership. Success will be defined by your ability to grow revenue, build a loyal customer base within the construction and building supplies market, and establish a high-performing branch.


Key Responsibilities

  • Launch and manage a new trade branch within the Guildford area
  • Build, lead and develop a small on-site team
  • Drive sales growth across trade customers including installers, builders and contractors
  • Develop and expand a local customer base through proactive business development
  • Oversee quoting, pricing and margin control to ensure profitability
  • Ensure consistent outbound sales activity and pipeline generation
  • Manage day-to-day branch operations including logistics and delivery coordination
  • Maintain high levels of customer service within a trade counter environment
  • Monitor branch performance against revenue and operational targets

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in branch management, trade counter, or B2B sales within construction, building materials, or related sectors
  • Must be able to commute to Guildford, Surrey
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience driving revenue and managing margins
  • Demonstrated success in growing a customer base within a competitive market
  • Leadership experience with the ability to build and motivate a team
  • Knowledge of construction products such as windows, doors, plumbing, electrical, or similar advantageous
  • Customer-focused with strong relationship management skills
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on results
  • Candidates from sales-driven sectors (e.g. automotive, merchanting, estate agency) with transferable skills will be considered
