Accounts Assistant

Accounts Assistant
Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Our client is looking for a proactive Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid accounts experience who enjoys working across both sales and purchase ledgers, getting involved in month end processes, and playing a key role in maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
Manage customer invoicing, statements, and support credit control activity
Process supplier invoices, expenses, and assist with payment runs
Reconcile bank statements and allocate payments accurately
Support cash forecasting activities
Handle customer and supplier queries professionally and efficiently
Assist with month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and VAT returns
Maintain accurate records within Sage (or similar accounting systems)
Support audit preparation and wider finance process improvements
Provide general administrative support to the finance team
Requirements:
Previous experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping role
AAT Level 2 or equivalent
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Confident communicator across all levels of the business
Competent in Sage (preferred) and Excel
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Packag Details / Benefits:
07:00-16:00 Monday to Thursday / 07:00-15:00 Friday
31 days annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with length of service

They specialise in delivering high quality fabrication solutions across a range of industries and are looking for someone who can confidently manage enquiries, produce accurate quotations, and convert opportunities into profitable work.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator or technical sales professional with a background in fabrication or engineering who enjoys working closely with customers and driving revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations for fabrication and engineering work.
- Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure jobs are viable and profitable.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.

Responsibilities:
Process and manage customer orders accurately and efficiently.
Review and process up to 100 orders per day, ensuring all paperwork matches correctly before sending to the warehouse team.
Liaise closely with the Warehouse Manager and internal teams regarding complex or urgent orders.
Book incoming materials onto the internal system, including stock transfers between branches.
Maintain accurate records of orders, stock movements, and customer information.
Support the accounts function by allocating payments using the company's internal system.
Assist the sales team with processing orders, delivery notes, and maintaining accurate paper trails.
Handle occasional customer queries via phone and email.
Ensure all administration tasks are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
Requirements:
2-3 years' previous administration experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong computer literacy and confidence using internal systems.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage workload effectively.

Key Responsibilities
