Duties and Responsibilities;
- Manage the live route plan and replan where necessary
- Supervising and managing driver workloads
- Monitoring driver performance
- Handle internal and external customer queries and work changes
- Verify delivery plans, check vehicle and driver availability, preloads, and address known customer problems. Ensure loading instructions and delivery tickets are ready on time
- Provide position and constructive feedback to drivers
- Keep all customers informed of all failed services or significant delays
- Provide the communication link between customers and drivers
- Ensure drivers have the correct paperwork and equipment to carry out their role
- Conducting driver briefs & de-briefs
- Supervising and managing driver workloads
- Handle customer complaints, log, and escalate to the HCC Operations Manage
- Report any incidents / near misses as soon as they occur and ensure the relevant paperwork is completed.
- Ensuring your routes are numbered correctly and all jobs are sequenced.
- Manage the vehicle defect reporting system, track defect progress, and update logs accordingly.
- Manage vehicle breakdowns with suppliers and fleet engineers to ensure safe solutions.
- Complete speed monitoring checks and load reconciliations accurately and on time.

An established UK-based FMCG operation is seeking an experienced Head of Transport to lead and develop a large, multi-site transport function supporting critical, time-sensitive deliveries to farms and customers across the UK.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for fleet strategy, compliance, operational efficiency and driver engagement. The successful candidate will move the function forward by strengthening leadership capability, driving efficiencies, and ensuring best-in-class compliance across a complex and regulated operation.
The role is strategic rather than hands-on day-to-day, focused on guiding teams, setting direction, and maximising the performance of existing resources.

- Act as a named Operator Licence holder, ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance
- Oversee a mixed fleet of 60+ vehicles, primarily Class 2
- Drive fleet efficiency, utilisation, cost control and continuous improvement
- Own budgets, renewals, insurance, maintenance strategy and fuel management
- Manage third-party maintenance and supplier relationships, primarily with main dealers
- Ensure excellent OCRS performance and maintain a strong compliance culture
- Champion driver engagement, performance management and development
- Work collaboratively with planning, operations, compliance, H&S and wider business stakeholders
- Use data and systems (e.g. Microlise, Paragon, tachograph systems) to inform decisions and improvements
- Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and driver regulations

Our client is looking for a dependable Shift Maintenance Engineer to support day-to-day maintenance and engineering needs across a high-speed production environment. This role is ideal for someone with a solid mix of mechanical, fabrication, and general engineering experience, who enjoys both reactive work and proactive maintenance.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on manufacturing equipment
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to reduce downtime
Respond quickly to breakdowns to keep production running efficiently
Support capital and improvement projects across the plant
Work across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fabrication tasks
Collaborate with production teams to improve machine performance and reliability
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company H&S standards
Keep accurate records of all maintenance work and equipment status
Participate in relevant training and stay current with equipment and technology
Requirements
Must-Haves
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering
Minimum 10 years post-apprenticeship experience
Proven background in high-speed manufacturing (FMCG, automotive, or similar)
Solid mechanical engineering skills, including:
- Turning and milling
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Welding and fabrication
Ability to work independently and as part of a small engineering team
Flexible, reliable, and solutions-focused
Desirable
Experience with steel packaging machinery or materials
Basic electrical maintenance or PLC fault-finding skills
Good communication skills
Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to maintenance
