The successful candidate will manage a fleet of HGV drivers, ensuring efficient delivery of timber, paint, saws, and related products to trade customers across the UK. This is a pivotal role for a business that values autonomy, efficiency, and customer service. The Transport Manager will take responsibility for planning, scheduling, and managing daily transport operations, ensuring timely deliveries, compliance with regulatory requirements, and high levels of customer satisfaction. They will also implement processes to improve operational efficiency and centralize planning across sites. Required Experience & Qualifications: - Proven experience in transport management, ideally within a builders merchant or similar industry. - Strong background in load planning and vehicle scheduling. - Knowledge of fleet compliance and O License requirements. - Hands-on approach with experience managing Class 2 HGV drivers and vehicles equipped with Hiaab and flatbeds. - Familiarity with transport management systems (Kerridge or similar) is preferred. Skills and Competencies: - Strong planning and organizational skills. - Excellent communication and customer service skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and implement process improvements. - Leadership skills to manage and motivate a small team of drivers. - Analytical skills to monitor performance and identify operational efficiencies.
