Company & Job Overview

A leading international manufacturer of electronic and electromechanical components is expanding its UK commercial team, supplying engineered component solutions to OEMs across industries including automotive, industrial machinery, medical, audio and marine.

The Business Development Manager will take commercial ownership of the South & East Midlands, growing existing key accounts while developing new business and design-in opportunities. Working with Design Engineers, R&D, Procurement and technical decision-makers, the role will manage consultative sales projects from initial specification through to production and ongoing supply, driving profitable territory growth and long-term OEM partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and profitability through new business, account growth and design-in opportunities.
  • Target OEMs, manufacturers and engineering businesses requiring electromechanical component solutions.
  • Build relationships with Design Engineers, R&D, Procurement and Buyers.
  • Manage technical sales projects from specification and design-in through to production.
  • Grow key accounts through new applications, projects and cross-selling.
  • Win new customers and reactivate dormant accounts across the territory.
  • Manage complex, long-term technical sales cycles and development programmes.
  • Maintain accurate pipelines, forecasts and market intelligence.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings, with occasional UK/international travel.

Person Specification

  • 3+ years' experience within technical sales, engineering sales, component sales, OEM sales or a similar B2B technical environment.
  • Proven ability to develop both new business and existing key accounts within a defined sales territory.
  • Comfortable selling consultatively into OEMs, manufacturers, engineering businesses and product development environments.
  • Experience engaging with Design Engineers, R&D, Procurement, Buyers and technical decision-makers would be advantageous.
  • Able to understand technical requirements and manage longer-term projects.
