The Role of the Maintenance Engineer
The Maintenance Engineer will play an active role in ensuring a safe, efficient, and reliable site through robust maintenance practices. The Maintenance Engineer will also be responsible for administrating the maintenance schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver site maintenance activities
- Create and communicate maintenance/service schedules
- Prepare reports and documentation for management
- Respond promptly to unplanned breakdowns and call-outs
- Lead and perform maintenance tasks alongside the technical support team
- Drive cost-reduction and equipment improvement projects
- Resolve process issues through continuous improvement
- Source parts/quotations and raise purchase requisitions
- Manage and supervise contractors on site
- Ensure compliance with HSE guidelines and company policies
- Work flexibly, including overtime or non-regular hours when required
About the Maintenance Engineer
- Higher National Certificate in Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
- Minimum 2 years’ maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong fault-finding, diagnosis, and repair skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Confident reading, interpreting, and updating engineering drawings
- Proficient with Excel for analysing asset performance and costs
- Knowledge of maintenance methods, tools, and materials
