Interim Factory General Manager (3 Month contract) FMCG Manufacturing Sector Gateshead £90,000 - £110,000 pro rota + Car allowance An experienced Interim Factory General Manager is required to lead a large food manufacturing operation in Gateshead during a critical period of operational focus and performance improvement. Reporting into the Head of Operations, this role carries full site accountability across Safety, Quality, Cost, Service and People. The successful candidate will provide visible leadership, operational stability and strategic direction while driving performance, engagement and continuous improvement across the factory. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring an individual who can quickly establish credibility, make effective decisions and deliver results within a fast-paced FMCG food manufacturing environment. Duties and Responsibilities; - Plan and schedule bulk product movements across the UK. - Monitor and manage driver performance and daily activities. - Conduct driver briefings and debriefings where required. - Collate Proofs of Delivery (PODs) and prepare invoicing summaries. - Ensure all transport jobs are accurately entered into the transport management system. - Review routes and optimise vehicle utilisation to maximise operational efficiency. - Keep customers informed of any service failures, delays, or operational issues. - Manage and coordinate subcontractor activity on a daily basis. - Act as the key communication link between customers and drivers. - Ensure compliance with Driver Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive. - Investigate service failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. - Deliver consistently high levels of customer service.
