About the Role

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
Location: Disley
Salary: £55,000 
Hours: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off (×7), followed by 18 days off

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Keeping the site running smoothly with preventative and reactive electrical maintenance.

  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including 3-phase AC, motors, pumps, conveyors, and fans.

  • Supporting improvement projects, shutdowns, and machinery upgrades.

  • Working safely at all times—LOTO, risk assessments, and permit-to-work procedures are key.

  • Partnering with production to boost reliability and efficiency.

  • Working with external contractors to complete maintenance tasks safely and effectively.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Apprentice trained

  • Strong manufacturing background.

  • Experience with DC motors and drives.

  • Basic mechanical knowledge and the confidence to tackle simple mechanical tasks.

  • Familiarity with DCS/PLC systems for fault finding and routine testing.

  • A proactive, safety-focused problem solver who takes pride in doing things right.

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer

Multiskilled Engineer - Days Location: Lancaster Salary: £46500 + additional call out fees at premium rates Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (Days role - NO weekedns) Key Responsibilities: Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance across a range of production and converting equipment. Fault find and repair electrical and mechanical systems to minimise downtime and improve reliability. Work on DCS-controlled systems, centrifugal equipment, conveyors, printers, core winders, motors, gearboxes, PLC SCAA machines, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Support commissioning of new projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Use CMMS systems to plan, record, and report maintenance activities accurately. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurring faults. Assist with cross-skilling initiatives, supporting operators with basic maintenance and equipment knowledge. Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and compliance at all times. About You: Apprentice trained (multiskilled, electrical bias) Confident working with PLCs, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems (e.g. gears, conveyors). 18th Edition Electrical Qualification (advantageous). A proactive, hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Takes pride in their work. What's in It for You?
