About the Role

Machine Operator

Carlisle

£33,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience)

Aspion Search is working with a well-established, world leading manufacturer in Carlisle to hire a skilled Machine Operator. This is a great opportunity for a Machine Operator as it is a permanent role offering development, stability and a supportive, team-focused culture.

The Role of the Machine Operator:

  • Read and interpret shop orders and engineering drawings to complete jobs accurately
  • Set up and operate press brakes to bend, form, shape or straighten plate and sheet metal
  • Verify dimensions using precision tools (calipers, protractors, gauges) to meet spec
  • Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance before/after shifts
  • Adjust settings (speed, feed, backgauge/path) for safe, consistent, high-quality output
  • Test and fine-tune machine operation using gauges and hand tools per product spec
  • Inspect finished/assembled parts for conformance to quality standards
  • Process and update shop orders within the ERP system
  • Follow all H&S procedures and wear required PPE
  • Report equipment issues or quality concerns promptly to supervisors

Requirements of the Machine Operator

  • At least 2 year’s Press Brake operating experience
  • Experience programming Press Brakes for different sizes and materials
  • Ideally able to use guillotine, bandsaw and laser cutting equipment
  • FLT (Forklift Truck) licence
  • Full UK driving licence
