About the Role

Warehouse Late Shift Manager

Tonbridge

Circa £42,000 (£43,000 after probation period) + Bonus

Monday – Friday, 19:30 pm – 03:30 am

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Late Shift Supervisor to lead and support a team of warehouse personnel. This role ensures that all aspects of the late shift operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. Key responsibilities include overseeing picking, loading, routing, and quality checks, while maintaining a safe working environment and delivering exceptional service standards.

The Candidate;

  • Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor or warehouse shift manager
  • Logistics Industry experience within building supplies, plumbing distribution or similar industry is highly desirable
  • Previous experience managing a late shift operation is advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing warehouse performance through KPIs and operational reporting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across multiple departments.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the flexibility to support different warehouse functions when required.
  • Good IT skills and experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • A thorough understanding of warehouse health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience within the building supplies, plumbing, merchanting or a similar distribution environment would be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities;

Shift Management:

  • Deliver pre-shift briefings to assign roles and ensure the team is prepared for the shift.
  • Monitor and manage shift timekeeping, ensuring the team is ready to start promptly

Operations:

  • Oversee the accurate and timely loading/unloading of vehicles, ensuring compliance with weight regulations.
  • Ensure customer orders are picked and processed efficiently and correctly.
  • Maintain high standards of product and service quality, reporting any issues to management.
  • Conduct bay checks and other operational tasks as per the Operations Manager's plan.

Routing and Pre-Drops:

  • Input routing details accurately and ensure pre-drops are achievable.
  • Reassign loads or communicate delays as needed to ensure compliance with regulations.

End-of-Shift Reporting:

  • Send comprehensive end-of-shift reports covering pre-drops, stock issues, errors, and other relevant updates.

Accuracy and Compliance:

  • Perform accuracy checks on at least 80% of items, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Uphold health and safety standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Leadership and Development:

  • Conduct monthly 1:1s with team members to provide performance feedback and identify training needs.
  • Support team training, including eLearning programs, to ensure continuous development.
  • Handle disciplinary investigations as required.

Security and Housekeeping:

  • Ensure the site is secure and all alarms are set at the end of each shift.
  • Conduct end-of-shift walk-throughs to maintain cleanliness and readiness for the next day.
